Mater Dei, aiming a constant improvement on the relationship with patients and doctors, launched Qualitas Project in 2001. This project gathers standardization, integration, and quality through modern information technology at disposal to its clients. Its proposal synthesizes the new processes in medical, nursing support and administrative areas. To further the Project, the Hospital elaborated 220 medical protocols, 570 nursing assistance processes and 1,100 directives in the operational area. All actions were coordinated by the Standardization and Quality Guarantee Department and were in accordance to the Brazilian Self Regulating Body of Medical Profession as well as with international medical protocols.

In 2004, Mater Dei Hospital was the first hospital in Belo Horizonte and the second in Brazil to be accredited by ONA (National Certification Organization) at level 3.ONA is a renown institution and it is accredited by the Brazilian Health Department, which has as its target the promotion of the implementation of a permanent process of assessment and certification of health service quality, allowing a continuous improvement of the attention , in order to guarantee the quality on the assistance to Brazilian citizens in all health service rendering organizations in the country.
The auditors assessed the management of the quality of the institution in three levels:
Structure (level 1 – Accreditation);
Processes (level 2 – Full accreditation);
Continuous Improvement (level 3 – Accreditation with Excellence)
In 2005, there was a new assessment and the Level 3 was kept. In June, 2006, the Hospital was again accredited with excellence deserving it due to its work ruled by quality, humanization and customized care. After a judicious evaluation, the Hospital stood, once again, as model of excellence in hospital management.
As a center of reference, Mater Dei Hospital works in tune with the technical norms of both, the Brazilian Health Department and the State and City Health Department, and also follows the international norms for emergency assistance.
