Awards and Recognition

Mater Dei has been recognized and has received several awards along its history. In 2003 the Hospital received the Health Eminence Award given by União Nacional de Instituições de Autogestão em Saúde (National Union of the Health Self-management Institutions)and conquered the Hospital Best Award – Minas Gerais, offered by Associação Brasileira de Marketing em Saúde (Brazilian Association of Marketing in Health). In 2005 it received the Top of Mind  Award, under the Leadership category. In the same year it was paid homage for its 25 years of service rendered to society by the State Legislature of Minas Gerais.

  • 1987 – “Premio Clovis Salgado” – Awarded by SOGIMIG – Minas Gerais Gynecologist and Obstetrician Association;
  • 1999 – “Entrepreneur of the Year” – awarded to Dr. José Salvador Silva, CEO of Mater Dei by Minas Gerais Trade Association;
  • 2000 – “Top of Mind”
  • 2001 – “Company Leader in the Health Sector” – awarded to Dr. José Salvador Silva, CEO of Mater Dei by Leader Forum/Gazeta Mercantil Newspaper, São Paulo State;

  • 2003 – “Company Top Excellence” – awarded by Leader Forum/ Gazeta Mercantil Newspaper;
  • “Top Premium in Education and Research” – awarded by ANAHP(Private Hospital National Association), Brasilia In 2004
  • Excellence Certificate, level 3 by DNV/ONA;
  • Top of Mind, in Leadership (Mercado Comum);
  • Eminence in the Health Sector – southern region of Brazil, awarded by Leader Forum;
  • “Mercosur President Meeting” – selected to give clinical and hospital support to the event;
  • “Eminence of the Year/Smacna” for the quality of its air conditioning (first hospital in Brazil to receive the prize in international scope);
  • Certificate “The biggest of Minas Gerais”, awarded by the Industry Federation of Minas Gerais and its Associates)
  • Minas Gerais Program of Quality – Dr. José Salvador Silva, the CEO of Mater Dei Hospital was member of the jury to award the prize of Minas Gerais Prize of Quality. 2005/2006.
  • 2005: it was again certified  in Excellence, level 3 by DNV/ONA;
  • Launching of Qualitas ( Standardization, Integration and Quality Program) at PUC(the Catholic University of Minas Gerais);
  • In 2005 it published its Social balance sheet through IBASE (Brazilian Institute of Social and Economics Analyses);
  • In 2006 it was again certified in Excellence by DNV/ONA, keeping level 3;
  • In June, 2006 Mater Dei was chosen and qualified as the official hospital of the “World Meeting of Interamerican Development Bank”;
  • In June, 2006 it inaugurated the new Adult Intensive Care Center, totally enlarged with a number of 50 beds and an area of 1,500 square meters;
  • In 2005 and 2006: Minas Gerais Program of Quality – Dr. José Salvador Silva, the CEO of MATER Dei Hospital was again member of the jury to award the Minas Gerais Prize of Quality;
  • In October 2006, Rotary Club International awarded Mater Dei with the “Prize of Family and Community for Service Rendering”.

2006

  • Mater Dei Hospital is awarded with  the DNV/ONA Certification of Excellence again, keeping level 3;
  • Mater Dei Hospital was chosen and accredited as the official hospital of “Encontro Mundial do Banco Interamericano de Desenvolvimento “ (World meeting of BID – Development Interamerican Bank) that took place in Belo Horizonte from March 28th until April 5th;
  • Inaugurated : the new Adult Intensive Care Unit, that was completely enlarged, numbering now 50 beds and an assistance  area of  1.5 thousand square meters;

2007

  • DNV/ONA certificate of Excellence was awarded again, being level 3 kept;
  • Inauguration and operation  of a modern Radiotherapy Unit for cancer treatment;
  • Mater Dei purchased a 64 channel multislice Aquilon. This new equipment represents great innovation for computerized tomography exams;
  • Uromater, the first specialized clinic in Urogynechology and Urodynamics of Minas Gerais State, in Mater Dei Hospital, celebrates its 20th anniversary;
  • A new concept and practice of gastronomy is adopted, bringing novelty to meal service , through  modern and exquisite parameters;
  • It is the first hospital in Minas Gerais State to join the campaign “5 Million Lives” of Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), which is a non profitable  American organization with  high credibility;

2008

  • The international certification RvA (Raad voor Accreditatie – Dutch Accreditation Council) was awarded  to the hospital in conformity to ISO 9001/2000;
  • It was again accredited level 3 by ONA;
  • It was chosen as the only hospital to exclusively take care of Cirque du Soleil personnel, during its presentation season in Belo Horizonte;
  • Henrique Moraes Salvador , the technical director of Mater Dei Hospital was elected president of Anahp’s (Private Hospital National Association) deliberative body;
  • A new piece of  digital mammography equipment is purchased and adopted ;
  • The implant of a brain pacemaker for treatment of chronic  and difficult control epilepsy is made in Mater Dei, as another pioneer procedure in the state of Minas Gerais

For Mater Dei Hospital the awards received mean a recognition of its committed, integrated and different work , shared by all who are part of medical, assistance and administrative team.
